Blocked Drains and Drain Repairs in Baldock

Rated 5.0 on Google · Fully insured

A drain that blocks once needs clearing. A drain that keeps blocking usually needs repairing. In Baldock we do both: our team unblocks the drain, looks inside with a camera if the problem keeps returning, and repairs the damage so it stops. We're based next door in Letchworth Garden City, and this year we've cleared blocked toilets and drains in homes across Baldock.

Unblocking comes first

Water has to flow again before anything else, so we clear the blockage first. For grease, silt or a blockage deep in the run, high pressure jetting cleans the inside of the pipe rather than just pushing through.

Repairing a damaged drain

Drains fail in a few typical ways: a joint shifts and opens up, roots find their way in through a gap, or a section cracks or sinks under the ground. Clearing it only buys time, because waste keeps catching on the damage.

Depending on what's wrong, there are three ways to fix it. A patch repair seals one damaged spot from inside the pipe. Relining puts a new resin lining through the whole length, so it's a pipe within the old pipe. Replacing a section means digging down to it. Patch repairs and relining are done from inside, so in most cases your garden, patio or drive doesn't have to be dug up.

What a drain survey shows you

A camera survey travels along the drain and records what it sees: where the blockage or damage is, how far along the run, and what's causing it. It means you're not paying for a repair in the wrong place, and you can see the problem for yourself before you agree what to do.

Drain questions from Baldock

Does home insurance cover a damaged drain in Baldock?
Some policies do. Accidental damage to underground pipes is often included or available as an add on, and some people have a separate home emergency policy. Check your documents, or call your insurer before work starts if you're planning to claim.
Do you repair drains or only unblock them?
Both. We clear the blockage first, then, if the drain keeps blocking or a survey shows damage, we repair it with a patch repair, a lining or a replacement section.
What will a drain survey in Baldock show?
Exactly where the problem is, how far along the drain it sits, and what's causing it, whether that's roots, a cracked section, a displaced joint or a build up of waste. That tells us which repair will work before anything is agreed.
Can you reline a drain instead of digging it up?
Usually, yes. A resin lining is fed into the old pipe and sets hard to form a new one inside it, so there's no trench across your garden or drive. Some badly collapsed sections still need digging, and the survey shows which you have.
